Although popularly seen as
the slightly more dim-witted end of the Laurel & Hardy onscreen duo, Stan
Laurel was the architect behind much of their greatest works. Notwithstanding
his capacity as an ‘unofficial’ director, he was the head writer, spurring on
the others in the ‘Can You Top This?’ sessions. A true comedic genius.
